Ingredients:
4 C cubed French bread, slightly dried
1/4 C butter, melted
1/4 C chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp flour
1/2 C white wine
1 can chicken broth
1/2 tsp salt and pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/2 C sour cream
1 1/2 C shredded cheese such as Swiss or Gruyere
1/2 C grated parmesan cheese
6 eggs
- Place bread into a baking dish that has been coated with cooking spray.
- Melt butter in skillet and drizzle all but about 1 Tbsp over bread. To the skillet add onion and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes until soft but not brown. Whisk in flour and cook about 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in broth and cook until thickend. Add seasonings and sour cream. Set aside to cool.
- Sprinkle the cheeses over the bread. When the skillet mixture has cooled slowly whisk the eggs in one at a time. Pour the mixture over the bread.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Uncover and bake at 350º for about 20 minutes or until set and lightly browned.
